Kaizer Chiefs have been plagued by an alarming issue this season—despite creating plenty of chances, they’re struggling to convert them into goals. This has left both fans and management frustrated, as the team’s forwards have failed to deliver. The current leading goal-scorers, Wandile Duba and Mduduzi Shabalala, have only netted four goals each—an underwhelming statistic for a club of Chiefs’ caliber.

This issue isn’t new. Even before Nabi took over as head coach, Chiefs’ previous managers highlighted the team’s poor finishing as a major concern. Senior players have also failed to capitalize on key opportunities, putting pressure on the younger players to step up and deliver.

In an effort to address this, Nabi has taken proactive steps by organizing extra training sessions specifically for the forwards. Sources close to the club say that these additional sessions focus heavily on improving finishing skills for both the strikers and attacking midfielders.

“A lot of emphasis is being placed on the forwards to make use of these extra training sessions,” a club insider shared. “Nabi believes that with consistent practice, the situation will improve. That’s why he’s introduced this new initiative for the attackers.”

The extended training sessions reportedly include an extra hour of finishing drills, aimed at refining technique and boosting confidence in front of goal.

While Nabi is committed to enhancing the current squad’s goal-scoring abilities, he’s also keeping an eye on the transfer window. According to sources, Nabi has requested that the club sign at least one new striker during the January transfer window to help ease the burden on the current forwards.

Additionally, young striker Naledi Hlongwane has been identified as part of the solution. Nabi believes promoting Hlongwane to the senior squad could help address the club’s scoring issues.

“The plan is to bring in a new striker, but at the same time, promoting Hlongwane could provide the boost the team needs,” the insider explained. “The extra finishing training should also help improve the performance of the current forwards. There’s hope that this will help turn things around before the end of the season.”

Will these steps be enough to get Chiefs back to their goal-scoring best? Fans will be hoping that Nabi’s strategies can deliver the firepower they need.
