One of the four men accused of the horrific deaths of five teenage boys at an unregistered initiation school in Zeerust, North West, is set to appear before the Lehurutshe Magistrate’s Court today for a bail verdict. This will be the seventh court appearance since their arrest.

The other three accused have previously abandoned their bail applications. All four face multiple charges, including five counts of murder, two counts of violating corpses, and one count of defeating the ends of justice.

The case originates from a tragic incident in December 2023, where the five teenage boys were allegedly abducted and forced to attend an unregistered initiation school. The victims were reportedly mutilated, and the burnt remains of three boys were later discovered by their families. Two of the boys remain missing.

One grieving mother, whose son was among the deceased, spoke of her anguish and frustration. She called for justice and demanded harsh sentences for the accused. “Justice must be served so that these boys are sentenced to life in prison for the brutal way they killed our children. Our kids suffered terribly, and that pain continues to hurt us deeply,” she said. The mother also pleaded for the suspects to reveal the whereabouts of the missing boys, highlighting the torment endured by families who have not found closure. “No parent can rest peacefully without knowing what happened to their child,” she added.
