Authorities in Mpumalanga are investigating the untimely death of a 31-year-old woman, Mbali Mahlangu, whose body was discovered under troubling circumstances in Siyabuswa.
Provincial police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Jabu Ndubane, confirmed that Mahlangu’s lifeless body was found in her backroom on Sunday afternoon, February 2, 2025. According to Ndubane, Mahlangu was last seen alive on the evening of Saturday, February 1, when she retired to her room for the night.
Concern grew among her family members when they returned home from church the next day and noticed her room was still locked from the inside. Growing uneasy, they decided to use a spare key to unlock the door. What they discovered left them shocked: a pool of blood on the floor, and Mbali was found lying half-naked, wearing only a T-shirt, facing upwards.
The family immediately alerted authorities. Upon arrival, police and paramedics quickly assessed the situation and sadly declared Mahlangu deceased at the scene. During the preliminary investigation, officers noted multiple visible injuries on her body, suggesting she may have been harmed with a sharp object. A murder case has since been opened, though no suspects have been apprehended at this time.
Authorities are now appealing to the public for assistance in solving this case. Anyone with information that may help the investigation is urged to contact Constable Briggette Mashego at 068 327 8168. Another Case Raises Concerns in Limpopo
In a separate incident late last year, a similar tragedy unfolded in Ka Petsa village, Limpopo, where a 50-year-old woman was found dead in her home on November 30, 2024.
Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, spokesperson for the Limpopo police, shared that the woman had been alone in her house while her husband was away performing casual work. When he returned home, he found the doors locked but used his spare key to enter. Inside, he discovered food prepared for him, which he ate before going to sleep, unaware of the tragic discovery that awaited him the next morning.
Further investigation revealed that the couple lived on the same property but in separate houses. Police later made arrests in connection with the case and believe that a local man, familiar to the victim and often seen around her home, could provide crucial information to assist in resolving the investigation.
Both cases have left communities in shock and raised concerns about safety and security. Authorities continue to work diligently to uncover the truth and bring justice to the victims and their families.
