A swift and effective response by the Fezile Dabi District Highway Patrol has resulted in the arrest of a 25-year-old man in Kroonstad, following the discovery of a suspected hijacked vehicle. The arrest took place on Sunday, January 19, at approximately 2:15 PM, after the patrol unit received a tip-off regarding a white Polo believed to have been stolen during a hijacking near the Vaal Truck Stop in Sasolburg.

Upon receiving the information, the highway patrol officers acted quickly to track down the vehicle, which was located on Brand Street in Kroonstad. When the officers stopped the car, they interviewed the driver, but he was unable to provide a credible explanation for his possession of the vehicle.

Sergeant Josephine Rani, a police spokesperson, confirmed that the man was arrested on the spot for possession of suspected stolen property, and the vehicle was seized as evidence.

The 25-year-old now faces charges and is expected to appear before the Kroonstad Magistrate’s Court in the near future. This arrest highlights the continued efforts by local law enforcement to swiftly respond to crime and work towards ensuring community safety.
