In a dramatic early-morning operation in Sandringham, Johannesburg, 26 Ethiopians were rescued from a suspected human trafficking ring. A joint effort between the police, Hawks, JMPD, and a private security firm led to the discovery of the victims, including 15 found naked and detained inside a house on Luster Road. The rescue followed a tip-off from local residents who reported unsettling activities at the property.

Three suspects were arrested at the scene and are believed to be connected to the trafficking syndicate. The authorities found a 9mm P Tokarev pistol with one magazine, though it was unloaded. During the operation, some of the victims managed to escape through a broken window and burglar bars, while others were later found nearby. Eleven of the individuals were transported to the hospital for medical care.

The case has been handed over to the Gauteng Hawks’ serious organized crime unit for further investigation. Police are working to confirm the status of the 26 rescued individuals, who are being processed to determine their involvement in the trafficking ring. Authorities are urging the public to report any suspicious activity, particularly if anyone is seen without proper clothing, as they may be connected to similar incidents.
