On January 13, at approximately 2 a.m., police officers from the Westenburg SAPS under the Capricorn District received a tip-off about a stolen white Ford Ranger bakkie traveling near Kuschke Secondary School in Limpopo. Acting swiftly, the officers initiated a search for the vehicle and soon spotted it. When they attempted to stop the bakkie, the driver accelerated and a high-speed chase ensued, culminating on the R101 public road near Almadal.
After successfully intercepting the vehicle, the police conducted an immediate search. To their alarm, they discovered a firearm and a large cache of ammunition inside the bakkie. Preliminary investigations revealed that the white Ford Ranger had been stolen in Pretoria North, Gauteng. The vehicle, along with the firearm and ammunition, was seized by the authorities on the spot.
A manhunt has now been launched for the suspects involved, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Cape Town on January 10, authorities seized a luxury McLaren sports car that was allegedly tied to criminal activity. The car, which had been previously implicated in a crime originating from Boksburg, Gauteng, was spotted on Kommetjie Road in the Deep South. Members of the police enforcement team brought the vehicle to a stop, effectively preventing the driver from fleeing. The vehicle was promptly impounded and transported to a local pound.
Both incidents underscore the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to tackle crime in South Africa, with investigations continuing in both cases.
