A daring shootout between police and suspects in Lenasia has left two armed suspects fatally shot and others injured. The incident occurred during a Crime Intelligence-led operation, in collaboration with multidisciplinary law enforcement units, targeting suspects involved in multiple ATM bombings and other serious crimes across Gauteng and neighboring provinces.
The suspects were allegedly part of a syndicate responsible for a string of ATM bombings, leaving a trail of destruction and fear in their wake. Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection, Lt. General Shadrack Sibiya, is currently at the scene, overseeing the investigation and ensuring that justice is served.

This latest incident comes amid growing concerns over safety and crime in the area. Just last month, 27-year-old Ashwin Mouwers was gunned down outside the Lenasia Magistrateβs Court while waiting to testify in an ongoing murder trial. His killing has reignited calls for stronger witness and whistleblower protection.
As the investigation continues, police are urging anyone with information to come forward. The crime scene remains active, and authorities are working tirelessly to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
