Nhlamulo “Nota” Baloyi faced a major setback at the Randburg Magistrates Court on 7 November, where he was hit with a court order from rapper K.O. for defaming him on social media. K.O. had previously secured a court order against Nota for falsely linking him to the murder of hip-hop star AKA. Nota was also sentenced to 60 days in prison for contempt of court in March 2023 but was absent from court due to mental health issues, being taken directly to a mental institution before being transported to prison.
Nota’s lawyer, Matamela Khorommbi, stated he had not been informed about the contempt matter and was waiting for further updates. Meanwhile, the rape case against Nota has been postponed to 28 January 2025 for more consultation with the complainant. Khorommbi mentioned that key evidence, including WhatsApp chats, still needed verification.
This follows Nota’s bail hearing in October 2023, where he was charged with raping an actress and singer. With both the rape and defamation cases ongoing, the situation remains uncertain as the legal battles continue into 2025.
