A family in Kromkuil, North West, is reeling from two devastating tragedies. Almost two years after Lebogang Ngwenya’s son, who struggled with addiction, threw his one-year-old baby brother to the groundβleading to the infant’s deathβthe family has faced another heartbreaking loss. On December 29, 2024, Lebogang, 41, was found murdered in a bush, allegedly strangled with a shoelace.
According to family members, Lebogang was dragged from a tavern by a man, and her lifeless body was discovered the following day. Her aunt, Agnes, described the moment she learned of her niece’s death, expressing disbelief and sorrow over the brutal way in which she was killed. “He killed my niece like a dog,” Agnes said, still shaken by the pain of losing two family members in such a tragic manner.
The son, who had been arrested for the murder of his baby brother in 2023, remains in police custody. Meanwhile, a suspect, believed to be Lebogangβs boyfriend, was arrested for her murder on December 31, 2024. He appeared in court on January 2, 2025, and has been remanded in custody until mid-January.

The family is now seeking justice, demanding that those responsible for both deaths face the full extent of the law.
