In a successful operation, police apprehended a group of suspected criminals involved in a series of house robberies in Jukulyn and Rietgat, north of Tshwane, on Wednesday, 20 November. The suspects, who had been on the run, were cornered during a police raid targeting their hideout.

According to Tshwane District Police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk, the operation focused on apprehending four individuals linked to multiple robberies in the region. “A white BMW, believed to have been used in the robberies, was seized, along with an unlicensed firearm,” said Van Dyk.

The operation followed the verification of intelligence that pinpointed the suspects’ location. Upon executing the takedown, the police were able to arrest the suspects without any resistance. A search of the premises uncovered the unlicensed firearm, and further examination of the property led to the recovery of the BMW.

The suspects have been linked to at least nine confirmed house robberies, and investigations are underway to determine if they are connected to other criminal activities. The seized firearm will undergo ballistic testing to check for its involvement in additional crimes.

Tshwane District Police Commissioner Major-General Samuel Thine praised the police team for their swift and successful actions, which contributed to enhancing the safety and security of the community.
