The community of Wallacedene in Kraaifontein, Cape Town, was left in shock after the gruesome discovery of three bodies near a dam on a local farm on Monday, 4 November. The bodies were found by a security guard on his way home, who quickly alerted authorities. Initial investigations suggest that the men may have fallen victim to mob justice, as the injuries appear consistent with a brutal attack.
Residents described the scene as horrifying. Xoliswa Mbeshu, a local who visited the area, was shaken by the sight. “The bodies were brutally butchered, with blood covering their bodies and heads,” she said. “I couldn’t even recognize if they were from our community because they were so badly beaten and swollen. Their families might struggle to identify them.” The shock among locals has been intensified by the brutal nature of the attack and the ongoing issue of body discoveries near this dam.
Police spokesperson Colonel André Traut confirmed that SAPS detectives are investigating the triple murder and are following leads to determine what led to the men’s deaths. Traut noted that the injuries suggest a possible act of vigilantism, and he urged anyone with information to come forward to aid in solving this crime.
