Faith Ngubo, the former Vuma FM presenter and actress, has no regrets about leaving her radio career behind to focus on television. The 28-year-old, originally from Ixopo in KZN, made the transition in 2021 and hasn’t looked back. She’s now making waves not only as an actress but also as the proud owner of Blanket Casting Agency, which supplies talent to top productions like Generations: The Legacy and Umkhokha: The Curse.
Ngubo’s agency, named after her Zulu surname “Ngubo,” meaning blanket, has already secured significant roles for emerging actors. One of her actresses, Ayanda Buthelezi, recently appeared on Umkhokha: The Curse, and Vuyani Mgunyela featured on Generations: The Legacy. Faith’s agency has become a stepping stone for actors aspiring to break into the industry, and she’s determined to help even more talent find their way to the screen.
While Faith is carving out her own path in TV, she’s equally passionate about creating opportunities for others. “I’m paving the way for myself and other talented actors. Right now, we’re securing smaller roles, but my dream is to land more substantial, long-lasting roles—for both myself and the actors I represent,” she said. Through her agency, Faith has also launched acting workshops, aiming to nurture and discover new talent. “I’ve hosted several workshops, with another one scheduled for March in Joburg. It’s important to me to provide fresh faces for TV,” she added.
In addition to her behind-the-scenes work, Faith continues to shine on screen. She recently appeared in Youngings on Showmax as Mrs. Shabalala, as well as in Expiry Date as a featured girlfriend. Faith also took on a role in the second season of Losing Lerato as a nurse and provided 200 extras for the production.
While she values her time in radio, Faith feels her future lies in television. “That chapter is now closed,” she said, adding that she would only return to radio for interviews. With a bright future ahead in TV and a growing agency, Faith is committed to shaping the next generation of South African actors.
