The Thosi and Hlungwane families are facing an unimaginable loss after a tragic accident claimed the lives of four of their beloved family members. Hlamulo Thosi (34), his wife Vutomi (31), and their two children, Nhlanganiso (11) and Andzo (6), died on Sunday, 12 January, in a devastating head-on collision along the R81 road in Limpopo, near Botsoleni Village outside Malamulele.
The loss has left the families, as well as the local community, in shock and mourning. The Thosi family was well-known for their kindness and deep commitment to their village. Hlamulo was admired for his dedication to his work and family, while Vutomi was cherished for her warm and caring personality, especially in her active involvement in community initiatives. Their children were remembered as bright and joyful, with a future full of promise ahead.
Family spokesman Joseph Hlungwane expressed the overwhelming grief of losing such young and vibrant lives all at once. “Losing them all is difficult. The family is now wiped out, and it’s not easy to accept,” he said.
The family is currently preparing for a mass funeral scheduled for Saturday, 25 January, but they are struggling financially to organize a dignified service. A mortuary has kindly volunteered their services for free, but the family still needs assistance with catering for the large number of attendees expected.
Joseph has appealed to the public for any support, particularly in covering catering costs. “We are expecting a lot of people, and our current budget can’t cover the expenses,” he explained.
