DJ Enzo Majekete, a rising star in the world of Bacardi music, has become an unlikely figurehead in a genre traditionally dominated by black artists. The 34-year-old DJ and producer, born Enzo Nel in Kwaggasrand, Tshwane, has embraced his passion for Bacardi music, a style deeply rooted in African culture, and credits it for transforming both his career and his life.

Enzo’s musical journey began in 2008 as a deep house DJ, but his career truly took off when he switched to Bacardi music. “I grew up surrounded by Bacardi, and making the transition to the genre felt like a natural fit,” he said. His talent quickly caught attention, and he became one of Tshwane’s most sought-after DJs and producers. Enzo’s love for the genre has made him a local sensation, drawing both admiration and surprise from those who didn’t expect a white artist to embrace Bacardi music so fully.

“I used to hang out in Pheli (Atteridgeville), and people were amazed that a white guy like me could play Bacardi so well,” Enzo recalled with pride. He believes his connection to the culture is deep-rooted, as he’s had African friends since childhood and learned to speak Spitori after six years of immersion. “Growing up with African people, I had to learn the language. Now, sometimes I forget I’m white. I feel like a black man trapped in a white man’s body,” he shared. For Enzo, African culture has always felt like home. “It’s beautiful, and it speaks to my soul,” he added.

Bacardi music has not only been a path to success for Enzo but a way to connect with people. “Bacardi means love to me,” he explained. “It brings people together—it’s a vibe. It’s helped me grow as both an artist and a person.” His collaborations with artists like Nwadada and Ennyman the Guitar have been among his biggest hits, further cementing his place in the music scene.

Enzo is clear about what it takes to make it in the industry. “You have to work hard, stay ambitious, and respect the people who support you,” he said. “Building relationships with your fans and peers is key.” Currently, Enzo is working on an album set to be released soon, and fans are eager to see what this talented, boundary-breaking DJ will bring to the table next.

As he continues to navigate the music world, Enzo remains a testament to the power of passion, cultural appreciation, and resilience. His journey is proof that music has the ability to transcend boundaries and unite people, no matter their background.
