Botswana will officially inaugurate its new president, Duma Boko, tomorrow. The leader of the opposition party, the Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), Boko emerged victorious in the recent elections, defeating the incumbent, President Mokgweetsi Masisi of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).

South Africa’s Deputy President, Paul Mashatile, will be among the dignitaries attending the event, alongside other Heads of State and Government from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.

Boko, a human rights lawyer, will now take on the challenging task of addressing the country’s economic issues, which include high unemployment rates and widespread poverty. His leadership will be closely watched as Botswana transitions to a new political chapter under his governance.
