In the early days of 2025, the political landscape in the UK has been dramatically altered with the emergence of a new and highly controversial political party founded by Andrew Tate, the former kickboxer turned media provocateur. Tate, known for his inflammatory views on gender roles, misogyny, and various other contentious topics, has officially launched the “Britain Restoring Underlying Values” (Bruv) party. In just over a week, it has sparked a heated debate, with its polarizing platform causing both uproar and intrigue across the nation.
The partyβs name itself, “Bruv,” a colloquial British term for “brother,” reflects Tate’s unapologetic appeal to a predominantly male audience, aiming to reposition men as the dominant force in British society. In a rallying cry, Tate declared, “This is a war to reclaim Britain. No excuses, no compromises and no second chances,” underscoring the party’s aggressive stance on national pride and security. Bruvβs core message revolves around the assertion that Britain is under siege, with its borders, cultural values, and political integrity in desperate need of restoration. For Tate, the time for words is over; itβs a matter of action or nothing.
At the heart of Bruvβs manifesto are 41 principles, the most controversial of which revolve around reinforcing traditional gender roles and elevating men as leaders in all aspects of society. “I believe that men have the divine imperative to become as capable, powerful, and competent as possible in this life,” Tate stated, framing masculinity as a virtue that must be nurtured and celebrated. The party also advocates for the fundamental differences between men and women, insisting that each should adhere strictly to traditional gender roles, a stance that has already drawn widespread criticism from gender equality advocates.
Bruvβs platform extends beyond traditional gender politics to include a radical reshaping of the UKβs social and political fabric. Among its most contentious proposals are the public livestreaming of knife crime offenders in solitary confinement, the complete dismantling of the BBC, and a sweeping ban on LGBTQ+ content in public schools. Additionally, the party seeks to cap the proportion of non-British citizens at 10% of the population, a policy that echoes far-right nationalist rhetoric and stokes concerns about immigration. Other tenets include aggressive immigration policies, such as immediate deportation for any minor offense committed by a non-citizen, and the creation of a “licensed and armed society” as a way to combat crime.
Tateβs political vision also extends into economic and technological realms. His party advocates for a streamlined tax code, the promotion of entrepreneurship in schools, and the establishment of a national Bitcoin reserve, which speaks to his fascination with blockchain technology. Bruv also calls for nuclear power independence and blockchain-based voting systems, signaling a push for innovation and self-sufficiency in national governance. While some of these proposals may appeal to a certain demographic, they also raise concerns about the feasibility and long-term sustainability of such radical changes.
Tateβs political aspirations, however, come amid ongoing legal troubles. Since 2022, he and his brother, Tristan Tate, have faced serious allegations related to human trafficking, with Romanian prosecutors filing charges in June 2023. They are accused of running a criminal operation that trafficked women across several countries, including Romania, the UK, and the US, under the pretense of romantic relationships. While the specifics of the charges remain mostly confidential, the brothers are also facing rape accusations. As the legal proceedings continue, Tate’s foray into politics adds another layer of complexity to his already controversial public image, leaving many to question the true motivations behind his latest political venture.
