Former Muvhango actress and influencer Tebogo Thobejane made headlines when she returned to South Africa after spending over a year in Dubai. Her return marked the launch of her second attempt in the strip club business with C30, an upmarket venue in Sandton. However, after just a week of operations, the club has already closed its doors, leaving questions about what went wrong.
This isn’t Thobejane’s first foray into the nightlife industry. A few years ago, she launched her first strip club, Club X, at The Grand in Sandton. But her initial attempt ended in chaos after she became the target of a life-threatening attack. In a terrifying incident, a man fired shots at her e-hailing vehicle, leaving a friend injured while Thobejane narrowly escaped. Fearing for her safety, she decided to close Club X and flee the country.
Her time in Dubai was seen as a reset, but upon her return to South Africa, Thobejane was ready to give the strip club business another try. C30 was supposed to be her grand comeback—a sleek, upscale venue designed to attract a high-end clientele. Unfortunately, the excitement was short-lived.
A source close to the actress revealed that the club’s brief lifespan was due to multiple factors. “It didn’t last. I think they did some renovations, tried to open, but had to close down,” the insider explained. Despite its potential, the club struggled to draw in an audience. The previous shooting incident that almost claimed Tebogo’s life may have left a lasting impression, scaring away potential patrons.
The highly competitive clubbing scene in Johannesburg also posed a challenge. “The clubbing business is very competitive, and she tried to keep it on the low, but it did not work out,” the source added. Thobejane’s return to the nightlife industry may not have panned out as expected, but her entrepreneurial spirit remains undeterred.
While C30’s closure may seem like a setback, Thobejane is already moving on to new ventures. Speaking to ZiMoja, she confirmed her plans to explore other business opportunities, though she kept the details under wraps for now. “People will know soon. I am always busy with something exciting,” she said confidently. Reflecting on her near-death experience, she added, “I almost got hit by five bullets, so I like to keep my life private.”
