Emalahleni Couple Ties the Knot at Shisanyama Wedding Celebrations
In a heartwarming and unconventional celebration of love, Themba Malaza (33) and Chardoney Lessing (21) married at the Value Meat Real Braai shisanyama in Emalahleni, Mpumalanga, on Sunday, 3 November. Their love story, which began just two months ago at the same venue, culminated in a joyful wedding attended by friends, family, and patrons of the popular spot. The couple expressed their gratitude for the overwhelming support they received from the shisanyama’s management, their loved ones, and the community.
Themba, who works odd jobs, proposed to Chardoney at Value Meat because he saw a promising future with her. While he had not yet paid lobola, he consulted with his ancestors before making his intentions known. To his delight, Chardoney accepted his proposal, despite the absence of the traditional rites. “I was afraid she might turn me down, but thankfully she said yes, and I was overjoyed,” said Themba. While he couldn’t afford a traditional wedding, the venue’s management graciously funded the wedding, excluding the lobola, which Themba intends to handle in due time. “Our families were supportive, and we’re happy with how everything turned out,” he added.
Chardoney, who had always dreamed of her wedding day, was thrilled by the event. She shared that her family, including her aunt, cousin, and friends, were incredibly supportive and attended the celebration. “The wedding was everything I dreamed of. The food was amazing, and I received so much love and support from everyone, especially the owner of Value Meat,” she said. The couple encouraged others to follow their hearts and pursue love without delay. “You don’t have to wait. Love each other and get married,” said Themba. The wedding at Value Meat Real Braai adds to the venue’s growing reputation for hosting unique events. Bathini Letlaka, the marketing manager, noted that while organizing the wedding on short notice was challenging, it was a success. The venue plans to continue offering innovative concepts, with future events like a spelling bee competition already in the works to ensure fun, safe grooving for all.
