Kagiso Modupe, actor and businessman, is facing backlash as staff from his production company, Pound4Pound, claim they have not been paid in nearly two months. Despite repeated promises, Modupe continues to make excuses, leaving actors and crew frustrated and struggling to make ends meet.
An insider revealed that Modupe, owner of Bakwena Productions, recently bought his wife a luxury Range Rover while still withholding staff salaries. “This isn’t the first time. He pulled the same stunt on the shows Losing Lerato and Ingoma,” an actor shared. “We wrapped Pound4Pound, but he hasn’t paid. We’ve been patient, but by the time the money comes, we’ll be buried in debt from borrowing from Mashonisa (loan sharks).”
One actor revealed the desperate measures taken to survive. “I had to go to a loan shark just to keep up with car payments so I can take my kids to school. I’m behind on rent and school fees. People don’t believe us when we say we’re struggling, especially when they think stars like us have it easy.”
Fearing repercussions, the actor chose to remain anonymous. “If I speak out publicly, I might not get cast again and be labeled difficult or a diva.”
