Queen Ntokozo Mayisela, the first wife of King Misuzulu, has addressed her absence from recent royal events, which has sparked much speculation. It has been nearly a year since she attended major gatherings like the Battle of Isandlwana commemoration, Umkhosi Womhlanga, and Umkhosi WeLembe. Her absence, particularly after the arrival of the king’s third wife, Queen Nomzamo Myeni, has raised questions about her relationship with the royal family.
In her statement, Queen Ntokozo explained that her absence is a private matter that King Misuzulu is aware of, and she emphasized that she remains dedicated to the Zulu throne. She clarified that she has no objections to polygamy but revealed that she learned about her husband’s new marriage through social media, just like the public.
“I’ve never met his new queen,” she stated. “We have never been introduced, and I have never received or accepted any gifts from her. There is no quarrel between us.” Queen Ntokozo also shared that King Misuzulu has another queen residing outside South Africa, who is publicly known and has attended various functions.
Despite these changes in the royal household, Queen Ntokozo assured the public that she has not interfered in the king’s decisions. She continues to reside in her palace, kwaNkomonye, in Ulundi, and maintains that her protectors have never been removed.
The queen also spoke out against the social media attacks and defamation she has faced, acknowledging the emotional distress they have caused. “I am also a mother,” she said, urging those responsible for the rumors to consider the toll on her personal life.
