Award-winning musician Makhadzi, born Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, is stepping up to make a tangible difference in the lives of students facing financial barriers to higher education. The 28-year-old artist from Limpopo has announced plans to assist 20 students with their 2025 university academic year registration fees.

Makhadzi is offering this support to students across South Africa on a first-come, first-served basis. To apply, students are required to submit proof of acceptance to a university along with a short motivation letter explaining their financial situation. The selected students will receive financial aid to help cover their university registration costs.

The Jealous Down hitmaker shared that her decision to assist students comes from personal experience and a deep understanding of the challenges many young people face after completing matric. “I witnessed firsthand the struggles many of my peers encountered in accessing financial aid due to their circumstances,” she explained. “Education is a powerful tool for change, and I want to make sure that these bright, capable students are not held back by financial constraints.”

Makhadzi’s initiative is rooted in her belief that education should not be a luxury reserved for a few but a right that should be accessible to all. “By helping these students, I hope to alleviate some of their immediate financial pressures and inspire them to keep pursuing their dreams,” she said. “Education should be a pathway to a brighter future, not a barrier.”

Through this initiative, Makhadzi hopes to inspire a ripple effect within communities, encouraging others to support local schools and universities. “I want to foster a culture of giving back, where we all contribute to each other’s growth and success,” she added.

In addition to offering financial assistance, Makhadzi plans to mentor the selected students, guiding them through their academic journeys and helping them navigate the challenges of university life. “Together, we can build a brighter future, not only for ourselves but for generations to come,” she concluded.

This initiative reflects Makhadzi’s commitment to using her platform to uplift and empower the next generation of South African leaders.
