Drip Footwear, a popular sneaker brand, has been revived under a new name, Drip Sportif, after being liquidated in October 2024. The brand’s owner and founder, Lekau Sehoana, launched the new Drip Likwidz 23 Sneaker at TAPE, Mall of Africa in Midrand, Gauteng. This marks a new beginning for the brand, which was previously ordered to be liquidated by the Johannesburg High Court due to insolvency. The liquidation of Drip Footwear was a result of the company’s failure to pay a R20 million debt to an advertising agency, Wideopen Platform. The brand’s financial struggles led to the closure of 14 stores and the laying off of all employees. Sehoana’s personal life was also marred by controversy, including a divorce from his wife, Lebogang, who claimed that he had neglected their marriage and family. Despite these challenges, Sehoana is now focused on reviving his brand under its new name, Drip Spotify.
