Luthando Mthembu, known to fans as BU, has candidly shared the challenges he faced when filming intimate scenes on Adulting. Despite his experience in the entertainment industry, BU admits that he initially felt uncomfortable while shooting these scenes, especially when he first joined the industry. Reflecting on his very first intimate scene with Rosemary Zimu on Ayeye: Stripped, he described the experience as both awkward and enlightening, with Zimu offering guidance. “I learned a lot about ubuntu and the importance of mutual respect and comfort in these scenes,” BU said.
In Adulting, BU’s character, Vuyani, has become a fan favorite, largely due to his ability to evolve and connect with viewers. BU credits the show’s success to the strong collaboration among the cast and crew. “Everyone brought something special to the table. It’s about working together and playing our respective roles,” he explained. The team’s creativity and openness to different talents also contributed to the show’s popularity. For instance, BU’s own music was featured in season 1, and he’s hopeful that his new tracks will make their way into season 3.
BU also revealed that in the latest season, Vuyani’s character will experience significant growth. “Vuyani’s love for women has always been a key part of his story, but this season he steps up and confronts some deeper challenges. Despite being intelligent and well-grounded, he struggles with unemployment, and watching him navigate these issues will be exciting for viewers,” he teased. His character’s journey promises to be a compelling one, with fans eagerly awaiting the new developments.
Adulting season 3, which premiered on Showmax on 25 January, continues to explore the complexities of young adulthood, relationships, and personal growth. Alongside BU, the show stars Thembinkosi Mthembu, Nhlanhla Kunene, and Thabiso Rammusi, all of whom contribute to the dynamic and engaging narrative. As the series progresses, BU looks forward to continuing to showcase his talents and those of his fellow cast members, making each scene both authentic and impactful.
