The late pop star Brenda Fassie must be turning in her grave as her only child, singer and producer Bongani Fassie, faces troubling behaviour that has many concerned. The police and security officers were called to Bongani’s rented apartment in Fourways, Johannesburg, after he reportedly caused a scene that disturbed other residents at the estate.
The chaos began when Bongani allegedly brought five women to his apartment after a night out at a nightclub but refused to let them leave. According to reports from security personnel, the women expressed their desire to go home, but Bongani insisted they stay, even becoming aggressive when they resisted. Sources claim he became violent, yelling at the women and threatening them with harm while name-dropping his late mother, Brenda Fassie.
At one point, it was reported that Bongani physically pushed the women around, even pulling off their wigs during the altercation. The situation escalated further when Bongani allegedly stripped off his clothes and began chasing his neighbours around, breaking bottles and causing even more chaos. His friends, who were present, reportedly tried to intervene, but the situation only worsened, leading to more security personnel and police being called to the scene.
Eyewitnesses described Bongani as being enraged, repeatedly shouting that no one could help him unless they “brought his mother back to earth.” The situation, which involved him yelling at security personnel and his friends, left many concerned for his well-being and the safety of his children, who were reportedly present during the incident.
Sources noted that Bongani’s children were visibly upset and in distress, witnessing their father’s erratic behaviour. There were also concerns about the environment the children were being exposed to, with allegations of frequent parties and “dodgy” people coming and going from the house. Neighbours expressed their worry, fearing that the children were living in an unsafe environment and might be at risk of further trauma if the situation continued.

Despite the severity of the situation, the police could not charge Bongani for public indecency or any other crime, as they reportedly told onlookers to “speak to him when he is sober.” This response has left many questioning the adequacy of the authorities’ intervention.
One source expressed concerns for Bongani, saying, “He needs help before things get out of hand.” The situation has sparked wider debates about mental health, substance abuse, and the pressures of living in the shadow of a legendary parent. For now, it seems that Bongani Fassie’s behaviour is becoming an increasingly worrying issue, with calls for his family to intervene before something more serious occurs.
