Naming the album was a journey for Bassie, as she wanted the title to reflect the essence of the music. She explained that the album’s title track, Umculo (meaning “music” in Zulu), became the perfect fit. The song is a heartfelt tribute to music’s power to heal and transform lives, with Bassie reflecting on how integral music has been in her own life and the lives of others. “The first song on the album is Umculo, which means music. This song is me speaking to music itself, asking where I would be without it,” she shared.
