The first Carling All Stars XI has been unveiled, with notable representation from South Africa’s top football clubs. The lineup includes four players from Kaizer Chiefs, four from Orlando Pirates, and three from Mamelodi Sundowns, ahead of the much-anticipated Carling Black Label Cup final. The voting for the All Star XI, which will face the winners of the Carling Knockout Cup, has officially begun.
Last season, the Carling All Stars triumphed over Carling Knockout winners Stellenbosch FC with a 2-1 victory, thanks to early goals by Mfundo Vilakazi and Ashley Du Preez. The match was a standout moment for Obrigado, while Itumeleng Khune was named Man of the Match. However, with Khune currently without a club, Sipho Chaine will take the goalkeeper spot for this year’s match.
The defensive lineup includes Orlando Piratesβ shot-stopper Jabulani Mokone, DDC stars Thalente Mbatha and Relebohile Mofokeng, and Chiefs players Aden McCarthy and Xolani Mcossa, along with Sundownsβ Asekho Tiwani, who recently broke into the senior squad. In midfield, Mbatha and Mofokeng are joined by Sphelele Mkhulise and Gaston Sirino, while Vincent Mokoena and Naledi Hlongwane make up the attacking duo. Fans can continue voting for their favorite players and coach, with the Carling Black Label Cup scheduled for December 21.
