Vela Khumalo Predicts Neo Bohloko as Kaizer Chiefs’ Next Breakthrough Star

by Nyiko Maluleke

Kaizer Chiefs reserve team head coach Vela Khumalo has named Neo Bohloko as the next player likely to break into the first team. Khumalo, who has overseen the development of numerous DStv Diski Challenge graduates, is proud of the youth talent coming through at Chiefs. He believes Bohloko, with his natural striker instincts, is one of the promising players who could make a significant impact in the senior squad in the near future.

In a conversation with iDiski Times, Khumalo highlighted the success of players like Mduduzi Shabalala and Mfundo Vilakazi, who have already made the leap to top-flight football. He expressed immense pride in seeing his former charges, including almost 10 players, playing regularly in the Premier Soccer League. Khumalo emphasized that it’s a collective effort, and the growth of these young players reflects the hard work invested in the club’s youth development system.

Looking ahead, Khumalo singled out Bohloko as a standout talent in the reserve team. While Chiefs’ senior squad is currently dominated by a younger generation, Khumalo remains optimistic about Bohloko’s potential to follow in the footsteps of his teammates. As his team prepares for a DDC derby against Orlando Pirates, Khumalo is eager to continue nurturing talent and supporting their journey toward first-team football.
