Deputy President Paul Mashatile is set to deliver the keynote address today at the T20 Africa High-Level Dialogue, taking place at the CSIR International Convention Centre in Pretoria.

The two-day event, running through April 30, brings together policymakers, scholars, diplomats, and thought leaders from across the continent to explore how Africa can strengthen its influence in G20 policy-making—a critical forum where global economic and development agendas are shaped.

Hosted by AUDA-NEPAD in collaboration with the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA), the Institute for Global Dialogue (IGD), and the Institute for Pan-African Thought and Conversation (IPATC), the dialogue is part of broader efforts to ensure that Africa’s perspectives are better represented in global governance platforms like the G20 and its associated engagement groups.

“This platform is not only about participation—it’s about shaping the agenda,” a spokesperson from AUDA-NEPAD said.

As Africa faces complex challenges and opportunities—ranging from climate change and infrastructure development to digital transformation—Mashatile’s address is expected to highlight the need for inclusive, Africa-led solutions and stronger continental collaboration.

The T20 (Think 20) is the official engagement group of the G20 that brings together research institutes and think tanks to provide evidence-based policy advice to G20 leaders.
